Cookie policy
Effective
This policy explains how Custom Boxez Limited uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, what each category does, and how you can accept, reject or change your choices. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we use cookies that are not strictly necessary only if you agree to them.
What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as local storage and session storage in your browser, and tags that load from other services, work in comparable ways. In this policy, 'cookies' covers all of them.
Some cookies are set by us (first-party cookies). Others are set by another service, such as Google, when its tools run on our website (third-party cookies).
Our approach
Strictly necessary cookies are used without consent, because the website cannot work properly without them. Everything else, including analytics and advertising, stays off until you choose to switch it on.
When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept all cookies, reject all non-essential cookies, or choose by category. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and the website works either way.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies keep the website secure and working, and remember the choices you make in the cookie banner. They are used for:
You cannot switch these off in the banner, but you can block them in your browser settings. If you do, parts of the website, such as the quote form or the chat, may not work.
- remembering your cookie choices, so we do not ask you on every page;
- security and traffic management by our website hosting provider, to protect the site and deliver pages reliably;
- keeping a conversation with Aura, our AI chat assistant, connected once you start a chat;
- keeping the quote form working while you complete it, including file uploads.
Analytics cookies (only with your consent)
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the website, such as which pages are viewed and how people find the quote form, so that we can improve it. We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager.
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies with standard names such as _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier. By default these can last for up to two years. We use Google Analytics reports to understand the website as a whole, not to identify you by name.
Advertising cookies (only with your consent)
Advertising cookies help us measure whether our Google Ads lead to visits and enquiries. They include Google Ads conversion cookies with standard names such as _gcl_au and _gcl_aw, and cookies that Google sets on its own domains.
With your consent to advertising cookies, we also keep a small attribution record in your browser's local storage: the Google Ads click identifier (gclid, gbraid or wbraid), any campaign (UTM) tags in the link you followed, the page you landed on and the website that referred you. If you send a quote request or start a chat, this record is attached to it so we can see which campaigns bring enquiries. The record expires automatically.
How your choices reach Google
We use Google Consent Mode to pass your cookie choices to Google's tags. If you reject analytics or advertising cookies, those tags are told not to store or read cookies for those purposes. If you accept later, they follow your new choice from that point.
Changing your choices
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the cookie settings link on our website, which reopens the cookie banner. Withdrawing consent stops further use of those cookies; to remove cookies already stored, clear them in your browser settings.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser. Most browsers explain how in their help pages. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the website from working.
Google explains how it uses information from websites that use its services in its own privacy information at policies.google.com.
