Custom gift boxes and presentation boxes

Custom Gift Boxes

Custom gift boxes are judged twice: once by the person buying, and again by the person receiving. We make gift boxes and presentation boxes to your dimensions, as rigid magnetic, lid and base, drawer and book-style boxes, or as printed folding gable, pillow, sleeve and favour boxes for larger runs, with inserts, ribbon pulls and foil blocking. Send your contents and quantity for a quotation.

Overview

Gift packaging that earns a second look

Gift packaging is seen twice. The buyer sees it on a shelf or a website; the recipient sees it when it is handed over and opened. That second moment is where a fitted insert, an inside-lid print or a ribbon pull earns its cost. We make gift boxes for retail gift lines, subscription and seasonal campaigns, hampers and corporate gifting.

The first question we ask is what goes inside and how many you need, because that decides the construction. Rigid gift boxes are built from wrapped greyboard, feel substantial and are often kept. Folding gift boxes are printed paperboard, delivered flat and far more economical per unit. Many brands use both: a rigid box for the hero product and a matching folding box for the volume line.

Presentation boxes sit at the formal end of gifting: awards, long-service gifts, client gifts and product launches, where the box is handed over in person. They are nearly always rigid, often with a lined insert and a printed inner lid, and the finish is usually restrained, such as soft-touch lamination with a foil-blocked logo.

At the other end, favour boxes, wedding boxes, gift card boxes, invitation boxes and ornament boxes are small printed boxes made in volume for events and seasonal lines. They share the same print and finishing options, and they are usually folding boxes delivered flat.

Sizing

Sizing a gift box

Size a gift box from what goes inside. Give us the dimensions of each item in millimetres, how many items sit in the box and how you want them arranged: side by side, stacked, or one hero item with smaller pieces around it. We size the insert and the box together so the arrangement is fixed when the lid comes off.

Allow for everything that goes in with the product: tissue, a printed card, a ribbon or a booklet. If the gift box will be posted, tell us, because it will need a mailer or corrugated outer and its external size matters.

For a gift range, it is often better to design two or three box sizes with different inserts than one size for everything. The contents look intentional rather than lost in a large box.

How to choose

How to choose your gift box

  • Decide what the box is worth to the gift

If the box is part of the gift, choose rigid. If the contents carry the value and you need volume, choose a folding box. Many brands use both with one print specification.

  • Plan the reveal

Think about what the recipient sees first: a printed inner lid, a message card, tissue, then the product held in its insert. Each step can be built into the specification.

  • Consider storage and timing

Corporate and seasonal gifts are often packed in one burst. Collapsible rigid boxes or flat folding boxes save space until then.

  • Let one finish lead

A soft-touch wrap with one foil-blocked logo often looks more considered than several finishes on the same lid.

  • Plan for delivery

A gift box is presentation packaging. If it is posted, plan a mailer box or corrugated outer so it arrives unmarked.

In detail

Details recipients notice

  • Ribbon pulls and lifting tabs

A ribbon under the insert or on a drawer lets the recipient lift the product out without tipping the box. It is a small detail that changes how the box is opened.

  • Inside print

A printed inner lid or tray is seen only when the gift is opened, which is why it is worth specifying: a message, a pattern or a change of colour.

  • Inserts that fit

An insert cut to the product keeps a set in its arrangement, stops glass touching glass and makes the box look complete even when one item is lifted out.

Gift Boxes questions

Questions buyers ask

Anything not covered here, put it in the notes on your quote and we will answer it directly.

Ask on your quote

Should I choose a rigid or a folding gift box?

Rigid for a premium product, gift set, presentation or corporate gift where the box is part of the gift. Folding for events, favours and seasonal lines where cost and storage matter. Many brands use both with a shared print specification.

What is a presentation box?

A presentation box is a gift box designed to be handed over in person, usually a rigid lid and base or magnetic box with a lined insert. It is used for awards, client gifts, long-service presentations and product launches.

Can gift boxes be branded on the inside?

Yes. Rigid boxes can have a printed inner lid and tray; folding boxes can be printed inside on the same sheet as the outside.

Do you make corporate gift boxes?

Yes. Corporate gift boxes are usually collapsible magnetic boxes, stored flat until the campaign, with a printed inner lid and an insert for the branded items. Tell us the items and the number of recipients.

Can you make wedding favour boxes?

Yes. Favour boxes are small printed pillow, gable or tuck boxes made in volume. Kraft or white board with one- or two-colour print is a popular choice.

Can rigid gift boxes be delivered flat?

Yes, if you choose a collapsible construction. Other rigid styles are supplied assembled. Folding gift boxes are always delivered flat.

What is the minimum order for gift boxes?

The minimum order is 50 boxes. Unit cost falls as quantity rises, so ask for two or three quantities on your quote request if you are deciding.

How long does a gift box order take?

It depends on the construction, finishes and quantity. Rigid gift boxes are assembled by hand, so they take longer than folding boxes. If your gifts are tied to an event or season, tell us your required delivery date and our team will confirm whether the timing is achievable.

Can I see a sample first?

You approve a digital proof showing your artwork on the dieline before production. Ask about sample options when you request your quotation.
